1. Dust
Gray outside, inside gray, like the colors in my head
Computer screens, Fluorescent lights, and all the green lights turn to red
I want to run, I want to scream, I need to go to another place
I need to be alone with you before I go insane from all the
Dust, this is the dust, (this is the dust) of everyday life,
Dust, this is the dust, (this is the dust) of everyday life,
Dust, this is the dust, (this is the dust) of everyday life,
And you are the rain wash it away
Commuter bus, commuter trains, the outward struggle the inner pain
It’s 5 o’clock, so I leave alone, to grab my take out in the rain.
I only see your face as I scroll through another day
Thinkin ‘bout how you’ll come and take me away from all the….
Dust, this is the dust, (this is the dust) of everyday life,
Dust, this is the dust, (this is the dust) of everyday life,
Dust, this is the dust, (this is the dust) of everyday life,
And you are the rain wash it away
I only see your face as I scroll through another day
I need to be alone with you before I go insane from all the
Dust, this is the dust, (this is the dust) of everyday life,
Dust, this is the dust, (this is the dust) of everyday life,
Dust, this is the dust, (this is the dust) of everyday life,
And you are the rain wash it away
2. Fire's End
When I come home to you
And when I am going through,
A day of life’s little trips, I’ve got to get away.
So I take off a while from here,
‘Cause there’s only one place where my mind can be clear
At the Fire’s End, at the Fire’s End
Well, I’ve been to the city for too long,
And something inside it ’s all gone
That nobody can begin to replace; I’ve got to get it back.
So I walk up someplace high,
Cast my confusion to the wind and watch it bow down to the sky
At the Fire’s End, at the Fire’s End
So I walk up someplace so high,
Cast my confusion to the wind and watch it bow down to the sky
At the Fire’s End,
At the Fire’s End, where I watch the sun fall;
At the Fire’s End where I can feel it all
At the Fire’s End, at the Fire’s End…
3. Empty Rooms
I keep finding empty rooms, and I don’t know what to do
All my friends have gone away, nothing here for them to stay.
There’s a season in every life, we collect things, and we waste time
We don’t see our future selves, where all the stuff ends up on shelves
So we go on, blinded by the need to pile our treasures high
And now that I’m done, I want no more, I’m looking for the exit door…
But I keep finding empty rooms, nothing there to share the gloom
In my dreams I’m all alone; All I have is all I own.
And as I find my way back home, through all the relics that I have stowed,
I realize the things I’ve kept are not just heirlooms in a chest
But they’re memories; sweet, sweet memories…..
I keep finding empty rooms, and I don’t know what to do
All my friends have gone away, nothing here for them to stay.
Yeah I keep finding empty rooms, Nothing here to share the gloom
In my dreams I walk alone; All I have is all I own.
I’m reaping all the seeds I’ve sewn; All I have is all I own.
I’m all alone. All I have is all I own…
4. Magic Bullet
I was raised with humble roots; small town, dirt roads is where I start.
I watched my Daddy grab his Big Brass Ring; yeah, he grabbed it and shook it hard
So I sat down in my ignorant youth; asked him the secret to all his wealth
Well, he just smiled and asked me if; if I was ready to hear the truth. (and he said)
There ain’t no magic bullet son, no big secret to success.
Work 40 years; do what you love. Up every morning, do your best,
Fall in love, maybe raise some kids, and understand now what I say;
Ain’t no magic bullet son, you got to earn it every day.
As I look back now from later days, I see clearly through the years.
My son called me just the other day, he was holding back some bitter tears.
And he asked me just what it takes, to find true happiness.
And I remembered what my daddy said; his voice still echoed in my ears. (so I said)
There ain’t no magic bullet son, no big secret to happiness.
Work 40 years; doin’ what you love. Get up every morning, do your best,
Fall in love, maybe raise some kids, but understand now what I say;
Ain’t no magic bullet son, you got to earn it every day.
You got to earn it every day. You got to earn it every day…..
5. Canyon Wren
Floating like clouds__ in a watercolor sky
Timeless dreams__ about days gone by
Hard to see, so easy to hear
Clinging to the rocks or hanging on thin air;
Lonesome notes tumbling down into the mist
Ancient songs given to the cliffs
Hard to see, so easy to hear
Clinging to the rocks or hanging on thin air; Canyon Wren
Where ‘ya been
Canyon Wren, join the whip-poor-wills
Call my name from another world
Hard to see, so easy to hear
Clinging to the rocks or hanging on thin air; Canyon Wren
Where ‘ya been? Canyon Wren?
6. Every Second
I am in awe, of this moment. Don’t breathe. Let me take it all in.
Staring into the depth, drowning in all the colors, as they pan across the water
Crisp and clean like a crystal at light speed. See it. Feel the beat in your heart
The energy of immortality, Rippling like water over stones
Every (second) Every (second) Every (second) Every second of your life
Lost in your skies, my heart trembles. All this from the Maker of all things
Watching the dawn in the deafening silence. Whispering through the leaves in the wind
Every (second) Every (second) Every (second) Every second of your life
Every (second) Every (second) Every (second) Every second of your life
Every (second) Every (second) Every (second) Every second of your life
7. Why
Innocence betrayed by a childhood friend; Secrets shared that should not have been.
I learned the world is filled with broken hearts. I guess that’s how it starts, with all these…
Broken promises and little lies
If you didn’t mean it why’d you say it why?
Broken promises and little lies________why’d you say it why?
Seventeen, we were college-bound; We both said we’d never fool around
Then I left town, and you found him, didn’t think I could ever love again, with all those…
Broken promises and little lies
If you didn’t mean it why’d you say it why?
Broken promises and little lies________why’d you say it why?
Apologies? How naïve
Growing up it never occurred to me that they’d say…I’m sorry, I’m sorry
Life is full of fools and vagabonds; I’ve learned to try and keep the ones who love.
Spend my time remembering, learn from the past, So I don’t have any regrets that last from all those
Broken promises and little lies
If you didn’t mean it why’d you say it why?
Broken promises and little lies________why’d you say it why
Why’d you say it why? why’d you say it why. Why
8. You're Not the Weight
You’re not a burden to the ones that you love
You’re an inspiration, the definition of.
You’ve made decisions that have weighed you down
Traded comfort, speaking truth instead of doubt.
But you’re not the weight. No, you’re not the weight.
You are not the problem; you’re the rebel yell.
You are the muse with a story to tell.
Even in your pain, you’re not the weight.
You’re not dragging us down; cause we’re in outer space.
And you’re not the weight. You’re not the weight.
You’re a beat in the silence; not the fall, not the fight.
There is no surrender, only mercy given in the night.
The lost and found is full of make believe.
You’re the one who shows us what is and isn’t real.
But you’re not the weight. You’re not the weight.
You’re not the problem, you’re not dragging us down. You’re not the weight.
You’re an inspiration speaking truth into the doubt. You’re not the weight.
You are not a burden to the ones that you love. You’re not the weight.
You’ve never given up on mercy from above. You’re not the weight.
You’re not the weight.
9. The Big Trade
He sits and drinks the tea that last night, mother made; And he stares at the computer screen, well it’s just another day
He thinks about his Daddy’s farm and he wonders where his money’s gone
No one knows what’s on inside his head, he’s been down he’ll get back up again,
And he’ll make that Big Trade, trade it in. Make that Big Trade, and trade it in.
Well, he’s traded in a life’s work cause all he ever wanted was to be free.
And now he’s finding out to begin again, well it’s…it’s not quite what it seemed.
And all the world’s a fairy tale, with dragons to be slain, but every time he turns around the dragons are here again.
But he’s gonna make that Big Trade, trade it in. Yeah he’ll make that Big Trade, and trade it in.
So many things I could have done, to make him more proud of me
Still he’s done just what he should have done; raised me up and he set me free.
And that was a Big Trade, can I trade it in? Yeah he made that Big Trade, can I trade it in?
Trade it for more laughter and no more tears, and all we’ve missed throughout the years.
There is no way to bring him back, so right here and now I will retrace my tracks,
And I’ll make that Big Trade, trade it in. I’ll make that Big Trade, and trade it in.
Love is a mystery, life’s a dance; can I have another chance?
Trade it in, trade it in….
Love is a mystery, life’s a dance; can I have another chance?
Trade it in, trade it in….
Love is a mystery, life’s a dance; can I have another chance?
Trade it in, trade it in….
10. Stories
Hello old friend, a very different time and place has found you
Oh well now, let the seasons write the lines
Oh well now, the leaves of time have fallen down, all around us
Oh well now, let the seasons write the lines
Ooo_the story begins
Oo oo oo_what a journey it’s been
Looking back, time and time again we found each other
And now we’re here, let the seasons write the lines
Oh well now, we never thought to count the cost along the way
Oh well now, let the seasons write the lines
Ooo, the stories begin
Oo, oo, oo what a journey it’s been
Oo, oo, Oh the story ends
And in the end, we’re all just stories my friend
I got stories….you got stories…we all got stories to tell…
